Palos Verdes Tennis Club Rules
The following rules have been duly adopted by the Board of Directors to govern conduct and rules of play at the Palos Verdes Tennis Club (“Club”).
1. Court Usage
A. Court Reservations – Tennis & Pickleball
• Courts
may be reserved up to two (2) days in advance by calling the front office or through the Club’s online reservation system. Reservations open daily at 7:45 AM.
• Court reservations during peak hours (8:00 AM – 11:00 AM) are limited to two designated time blocks: 8:00 – 9:30 AM and 9:30 – 11:00 AM.
• All players and guests must check in with the front desk prior to play.
• Members arriving more than 15 minutes late will forfeit their reservation, incur a $25 charge, and the court will be released for member use.
• Singles and doubles players are each guaranteed 1.5 hours of court time, beginning at the reserved start time.
• Certain courts are reserved daily for Club teaching staff, programs, tournaments, special events, and sanctioned organizations such as USTA, UTR, Marine League, and PVTC Pickleball Leagues.
• Non-peak hours: Monday–Friday, 11 AM–3 PM;
Saturday–Sunday, 11 AM–close.
• Each member may hold one reservation per time slot. Reservations must include at least two players’ names (for both singles and doubles), with all actual players added before play begins.
• Members may practice serves alone only during non-peak hours.
• Family members’ names may not be used unless they are playing.
• Back-to-back reservations or “chaining” multiple bookings among the same player group is not permitted.
• Members may request specific courts; however, the front desk may reassign courts as needed to optimize scheduling and utilization.
• Members attempting to “game” the system may have reservations suspended at the discretion of the General Manager.
2. Guests
• Members may bring up to three (3) guests per reservation.
• Guests must sign-in, complete a waiver(if necessary), and pay applicable guest fees before play.
• Guests are limited to four (4) visits per month (excluding leagues, lessons, and clinics).
• PVE Residents: May play as guests up to four times per month. May play as their own guest during guest hours of 11 am to 3 pm during the week and 11 am to closing on weekends.
• Non-PVE Residents: May only play as guests of members, also limited to four times per month.
• Guest Fees: $15 (PVE residents) / $20 (non-residents).
• Guest cards may be purchased by members only at the front desk. They are non-transferable and may not be sold to or used by non-members. The current rate is $150 for a 10-use guest card.
• Guests may not make advance reservations or play without the host member present unless said guest is a PVE resident.
3. Use of Club Facilities
• Club facilities are for tennis and pickleball-related recreation and social use only and may not be used for commercial or business purposes.
• The Clubhouse is for members and their guests. Private events may be held by members with prior approval.
• Courts are strictly for tennis and pickleball. No bikes, skateboards, scooters, rollerblades, or unrelated activities are permitted on court surfaces.
4. Outside Professionals
• Only PVTC-approved teaching professionals may provide instruction on Club courts. Outside coaches or independent pros are not permitted to teach or conduct lessons or hitting sessions on Club property. This includes member-to-member lessons, even without the exchange of money.
5. Non-Member Play
• Non-member PVE residents may play as paying guests during non-peak hours (Mon–Fri, 11 AM–3 PM; Sat–Sun, 11 AM–close)
6. Ball Machine
• Club Ball Machine: Available to members only for $15/hour or $10/half-hour. May be reserved 7–8 AM, 11 AM–3 PM, and after 8 PM on a walk-in basis, Monday through Friday, and after 11 AM on weekends. Use is limited to Court 6.
7. Children
• Parents are responsible for their children’s behavior and safety on Club grounds.
• Children under 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
8. Attire
• Proper tennis or pickleball attire is required.
• Only non-marking tennis/pickleball shoes are permitted on the courts.
9. Etiquette
U.S.T.A. etiquette shall govern play at all times.
• Players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship, fairness, and courtesy at all times.
• Profanity, disruptive conduct, or verbal abuse will not be tolerated.
• Playing music on the tennis or pickleball courts is not permitted at any time, except by PVTC staff. This policy ensures that all members can enjoy a peaceful and distraction-free environment.
10. Food and beverages
• Only water is permitted on the courts.
• All other food and drinks must remain off-court.
11. Smoking
• Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited anywhere on Club property, including parking lots.
12. Lost & Found
• The Club is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Found items will be held for 90 days before being donated or discarded.
13. Cell Phone, Drone & Photography Policy
• Please silence cell phones while on the courts.
• Photography, videography, or drone use on Club property must be approved in advance by Club management. Filming or photography that disrupts play or invades personal privacy is strictly prohibited.
14. Pets
• Pets are not permitted on Club property, except for official service animals.
15. Alcohol
• Alcohol may not be consumed by or provided to anyone under age 21.
• Alcoholic beverages must be consumed responsibly.
16. Cleanliness
• Members and guests are responsible for keeping the Club clean. Please dispose of tennis cans, balls, and other trash in the provided receptacles.
17. Cancellations
• Lessons/Clinics: Must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance, or the full fee will be charged.
• Court Reservations: Must be canceled at least 1 hour in advance, or a $25 fee may be assessed.
• Club Events: Cancellations must be made 48 hours before the event to avoid a charge.
18. Parking Policy
• Members and guests must park in designated areas only. Overnight parking is not permitted. Please observe all posted parking signs and respect neighboring properties.
19. Emergency Procedures
• In case of emergency, please notify Club staff immediately or call 911. AED devices are located in the Clubhouse and the pickleball patio. Members are encouraged to familiarize themselves with AED and first-aid locations.
20. Amendments
• The Board of Directors may amend, repeal, or add to these rules at any time without prior notice.
